St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross was a Carmelite nun who was martyred during the Holocaust.
Edith was raised Jewish, fell away from the faith, but nevertheless was always searching for something more. As a brilliant thinker, Edith studied phenomenology and dedicated her life to seeking Truth which she ultimately found in the Lord. She later converted to Catholicism and always had a deep connection with the Cross of Our Lord. Her witness to perseverance and strength is one that shines bright amongst our modern day saints.
